Premier League Manager Departures
We’re getting towards the final stretch of the Premier League season and points are valuable to teams fighting their way up the table and there are some difficult decisions that need to be made. Chelsea and Leicester made those tough decisions this weekend with Graham Potter leaving Chelsea after just seven months in the job and Leicester ending the reign of Brendan Rodgers after a late defeat to Crystal Palace saw them drop into the relegation zone.
Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern Munich last week is the current favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge. With Chelsea facing Real Madrid in the Champions League in April and welcoming Liverpool to the Bridge on Tuesday 4th April, there are some important matches coming up for the managerless side. It will be interesting to see how Bruno Saltor, a former Brighton Defender will deal with the pressure as he takes over as interim head coach during the search for a new manager.
After 5 defeats in 6 matches, the Leicester hierarchy have decided to part ways with Brendan Rodgers after four years in charge. Rodgers had enjoyed some success at Leicester, winning their first FA Cup in 2021. Results have not been kind to The Foxes this season and they will now have a battle on their hands to stay in the Premier League. Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell will take over while the club look for a new manager.
Rodgers was the 12th and Potter the 13th managerial departures of the season which is two more than the previous record for a single campaign.
